About me.
Wendy is an experienced executive leader who excels at developing strong and positive team culture, getting the best from people and leading through change.
Wendy has been working in leadership roles for nearly 15 years and began her career at TVNZ and worked in a range of production, team leader and department manager roles.
In 2013, Wendy collaborated with NZ On Air and the Media Access Charitable Trust board to set up an independent not-for-profit organisation, Able, to provide media access services. Wendy served as Chief Executive of Able for nearly a decade, overseeing a significant expansion of the services during that time. The expansion included growing the funding, doubling the size of the team and managing Able through significant technological and industry change.
Wendy is a media accessibility expert, with a deep knowledge of captioning and audio description software and systems, including AI-based solutions. She is experienced at implementing new approaches and project managing accessibility solutions from concept design and testing through to training and delivery.
Wendy is a strategic thinker with a practical and pragmatic approach. In 2016, Wendy attended the University of Oxford Strategic Leadership Programme, gaining a game-changing new insight into leadership strategy. Wendy has also completed the Leadership Mindset Programme at the University of Auckland, along with short courses on governance, leadership, finance and strategy.
Wendy is a well regarded conference speaker and lecturer, presenting in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
Wendy is a governance leader, serving as chair on the Basement Theatre board from 2018-2024, trustee for the Stardome Observatory & Planetarium from 2017-2020 and trustee for Assistance Dogs NZ from 2017-2019.
